Gothicon: The Aftermath

What can I say? What a blast! The Grave Robbers ministry really outdid themselves in providing an absolutely amazing place for Christian goths to get together on common ground. Considering the great distances many of us live from each other, it was a welcome opportunity to see some friends that I've all but lost touch with, other than occasional Facebook posts.

There were also some unexpected surprises: Being able to play keys for a short, impromptu set with Eric Clayton of Saviour Machine was definitely one of them, (as if meeting the guy wasn't cool enough!) Being mercilessly defeated at fooseball by The Saj was another, but I guess he was only getting even for my accidently punching his baby in the head. (Long story: the important part is that it was an accident.)

From what I hear, some great audio and video footage was taken, and after it's all uploaded and what-not, I'll post links. If you have any pics, or stories from Gothicon to share, be sure to catch me on the forum, or on Facebook. I'd love to see/hear them!

A huge thank you goes out to Gothic Beauty magazine, for a very nice review they did for The Endless Funeral in their latest issue...

GothiCon Tickets, now available!

As you recall from last month, Coriolis will be performing at the GothiCon event in Cincinnati, on August 20th.

(You can read the full article, and description below.) I am now pleased to announce that in addition to Coriolis, Leper, Dark Valentine, and Sunday worship with the members of Wedding Party, there have ben some additions to the activities for the weekend.

Eric Clayton, of Saviour Machine will be a speaker at the event, and Bridgeshadows has been added to the roster of bands performing there. It's shaping up to be a great show!

Tickets are now available, and will not last long. (There is also a documentary about the Christian goth culture  being filmed at the event, and a lot of people want to be a part of it.) So if you'd like to be a part of GothiCon, get your tickets HERE.

What do we take out of the Harold Camping fiasco?

This month, I won't be doing my regular update in he "Christians 101" section, because I think it's relevant to do a little recap on a hot topic from last month: the Harold Camping rapture fiasco.  All throughout May, the inter-webs were full of buzz about Harold Camping, self-proclaimed scholar, and general pantload. We all saw the buzz online, heard about it on TV and radio, and talked about it at church: how could this guy say the rapture was going to happen on May 21st?

Well, this article isn't about what a nut-job Camping is. (That's kind of like talking about how cold an ice cube is.) I'd like to discuss what we can learn from watching the reactions of Christians during this whole fiasco...

Godzfest/GothiCon

Okay, so here's the deal...

Coriolis will not be performing at Godzfest this year after all. A number of scheduling conflicts have come up, and long-story short, we will not be able to make the trip down to Florida this year. Bad news for those near Florida.

However, it's not a total loss...
